The Batman by Matt Reeves One Year Later: Exploring The Drifter Persona
I must first start this by saying i am a long time suffering DC fan. I wouldnt say im a Snyder Cut bro but lets just say we frequent the same discord servers. Thats not to say i dont enjoy Marvel — Wolverine, Iron Man, Miles Morales and Dr. DOOM being some of my favorite comic book characters. But i am emotionally invested in the DC lore. Growing up a millenial born in the mid 90s (oh god my back hurts) i was bombarded with countless hours of animated DC fare. Among them of course The Batman: Animated Series, Batman: Beyond, Justice League: Unlimited and Static Shock. All these shows left an impact on me, i admit.
After discovering other properties like Preacher, Constantine and Watchmen my love for the detective comics only grew. All this to say that i have been a supporter of the DCEU through all their shortcomings. Though all of the pain. Even after creating 50 burner accounts on twitter just to argue with MCU fans. Even after they cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor *shivers*. I almost gave up hope on life — actually think this had more to do with my chronic depression but i digress. Long gone were tbe days of Watchmen, Man of Steel and Joker. All hopes were lost for people like me who just wanted a good traditional superhero movie. This is where The Batman comes in. The only batman film without a bruce wayne. In this film there is no Bruce… just, Drifter.
